HEY, ‘MEMBER THAT OTHER JUSTIN? HE’S MAKING MUSIC AGAIN…WE THINK

UNDATED (AP) – Justin Timberlake is teasing that new music may be on the way. Timberlake’s site plays a video of him walking through the halls of a studio. Timberlake says in a voiceover he’s obsessive about his music and doesn’t want to put out anything he doesn’t love. He says he can’t “physically torture” himself that much year after year — but the video ends with him walking into the studio in front of a microphone and saying, “I’m ready.” A clock then counts down to Monday at midnight, when presumably Timberlake will make an announcement.

KATY PERRY: THE PEOPLE’S CHOICE

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Katy Perry wins three People’s Choice Awards. Perry was the fans’ favorite female artist and pop artist. Perry told the crowd she’s going back into the studio to keep them entertained in 2013. Her video for “Part of Me” also won. Taylor Swift picks up the trophy for favorite country artist. Jason Mraz, Nicki Minaj, Rihanna and Maroon 5 also get People’s Choice Awards. One Direction wins for favorite song and album. The Wanted get the trophy for breakout artist.

MARIAH AND NICKI: “WE’RE NOT FIGHTING! YES WE ARE! NO WE’RE NOT!”

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) – Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj are now arguing over their arguments. The four “American Idol” judges took questions from reporters at the Television Critics Association yesterday, and the panel was asked repeatedly about their disagreements. Minaj said, “We’re professionals. Have you ever had an argument with someone you’ve worked with?” Carey said with a smile, “This was sort of one-sided.” Minaj snapped, “No, it wasn’t.” They were able to get it together when a reporter asked Carey and Minaj to say something nice about the other. Minaj called Carey one of her favorites who shaped a generation of singers. Carey says she fondly remembers working with Minaj on a single and she knew Minaj would go far. Carey says “ironically,” the single was called “Up Out My Face.”

WHAT CRYSTAL BOWERSOX LEARNED FROM ‘IDOL’: NO PUBLIC BURPING! (AND SOME OTHER STUFF)

NEW YORK (AP) – Crystal Bowersox says she’s learned a lot since being the runner-up on “American Idol.” She says she’s learned she can’t wear the same outfit twice on TV and “not to burp and curse so loudly in public.” She says she’s also learned “forgiveness starts with forgiving and accepting yourself as you are. It makes it easier to accept others as they are.” Bowersox is working on a new album that comes out in March. Jakob Dylan is a guest musician, and the album will be produced by Steve Berlin of Los Lobos.

JENNY MCCARTHY WILL INTERVIEW CELEBRITIES LYING DOWN

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) – Jenny McCarthy is promising her late-night talk show will be sexy. She says it’ll be a “an after hours party” like Hugh Hefner’s old series “Playboy After Dark.” She wants to combine that with “really great conversations with celebrities.” One way she plans to break the mold is by interviewing the stars lying on the ground. The segment will be called “Groundbreaking Interviews.” “The Jenny McCarthy Show” premieres February 8 on VH1.

LINDSAY LOHAN TO APPEAR IN COURT (IN OTHER NEWS: THE SKY IS BLUE)

NEW YORK (AP) – Actress Lindsay Lohan is scheduled to appear in court to face assault charges in connection with a fight at a Manhattan nightclub.

She’s charged with misdemeanor assault in the Nov. 29 incident at Club Avenue.

The “Mean Girls” and “Liz and Dick” star allegedly struck a woman in the face during an argument.

She’s due in criminal court Monday where she’ll learn whether prosecutors will pursue the case against her.

At the time of her arrest, her attorney, Mark Heller, said Lohan was “a victim of someone trying to capture their 15 minutes of fame.”

In September, she was involved in an NYPD investigation after alleging a man assaulted her in a hotel. Charges against the man were later dropped.

NICKI AND MARIAH: NOT SURE IF THEY WANTED “IDOL” JOBS

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Neither Nicki Minaj nor Mariah Carey immediately jumped at the chance to be a judge on “American Idol.” Minaj tells the Hollywood Reporter she didn’t know if it was cool to be that accessible, someone on TV every week. She says she’s still surprised she said yes. Carey says she hesitated, too, until her husband Nick Cannon said she should do it because “it’s the top.”

JUSTIN BIEBER REACTS TO PHOTOGRAPHER DEATH

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Justin Bieber says something has to be done to protect both celebrities – and the people who get paid big bucks to take pictures of them. The singer has issued a statement in the wake of the death of a photographer who died after getting shots of The Beeb’s white Ferrari on a Los Angeles street. The photographer was struck by a car as he crossed a busy boulevard after taking the photos. In his statement, Bieber says his prayers are with the family of the man who died. But he says he hopes the tragedy will “finally inspire meaningful legislation” to protect those who end up in harm’s way when photographers go after shots of celebrities. He says not only does that include the celebrities and photographers, but also police and innocent bystanders.
