LOS ANGELES (AP) – Trace Adkins is trying to keep his recording career going – even as he tries to climb the reality show corporate ladder as a contestant on “Celebrity Apprentice.” But it isn’t easy. He says his latest music project has been affected by all the time he was spending on the tube as he tries to win Donald Trump’s approval. He says he had finished a studio album that was due out in the fall. But when his Apprentice gig came along, he says “that kind of messed everything up.” Adkins delayed the album – but then found three more songs he wanted to record. He says those three songs were love songs – and when he added them to the stuff he had already recorded, he decided to just go ahead and put out “an album full of love songs.”

LOS ANGELES (AP) – A judge in Los Angeles has pretty much gutted the lawsuit Michael Jackson’s mother had filed against the promoters of what would have been his last concert tour. A judge ruled last week that all but one count will go away in a civil lawsuit filed by his mother, Katherine Jackson against AEG Live. The remaining claim is that the promoter was negligent when it hired and supervised former cardiologist Conrad Murray. Murray was convicted of causing Jackson’s 2009 death when he gave him a lethal dose of propofol, usually administered as an anesthetic for surgery. Mrs. Jackson had also sought to claim that AEG could be held liable for Murray’s conduct and breached its duty to care for her son. But those claims were tossed out by the judge’s ruling last week.
A trial is scheduled to begin April 2.

LOS ANGELES (AP) – A legendary musician of American pop and a British guitar virtuoso will lead an installment of Rock ‘N’ Roll Fantasy Camp. Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys and Jeff Beck will host the music camp in Las Vegas on April 18-21. LOS ANGELES (AP) – Her lawyer says Lindsay Lohan is committed to turning her life around. He says she wants to record public service announcements on the dangers of domestic violence, alcohol abuse and drunken driving. He says as part of intense psychotherapy sessions, Lohan is in the beginning stages of trying to become an inspirational speaker to young people. He says she “suddenly woke up one morning and had an epiphany,” realizing “the seriousness of the events that led her to being in court.” She’s currently charged with lying to police, which could land her back in jail.

NEW YORK (AP) – Will Ferrell will be given the first “Comedic Genius Award” at the MTV Movie Awards in April. Rebel Wilson will host the show that’ll air on MTV April 14. Nominations will be announced during a live special on MTV March 5. Wilson will announce the nominees for Movie of the Year.

NEW YORK (AP) – A country music legend and a former “American Idol” champion are among those who will be vying for the mirrorball trophy this year. ABC says Wynonna Judd and Kellie Pickler are among the cast for this year’s “Dancing With the Stars.” Others in the competition include former Olympic skater Dorothy Hamill, comic actor D.L. Hughley and Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl star Jacoby Jones. The new season starts with a two-hour premiere on March 18.

LAS VEGAS (AP) – Five more contestants will be sent home tonight on “American Idol.” Ten girls will perform, five won’t make it to the next round. The same thing happens to the boys tomorrow night. Then, only the Top 20 will remain.
