ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME HONORING THE STONES

The Early Stones

CLEVELAND (AP) – The story of The Rolling Stones is so huge it takes 2 1/2 floors of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum to tell.

The Cleveland-based museum will open “Rolling Stones: 50 Years of Satisfaction,” an exclusive exhibit celebrating the archetypal rock band, on May 24.

The exhibit will be open until March 2014 and will include personal and collected items that have never before been seen by the public along with film, text and interactive components and periodic lectures on the band’s 50-year career. The entire exhibit will take up more than two floors of the museum.

Mick Jagger, Keith Richards and The Stones recently held a series of concerts to celebrate their 50th year together and there have been rumors of more activity.

‘DANCING WITH THE STARS’ CAST TO BE ANNOUNCED TODAY

MIRROR BALL TROPHY

UNDATED (AP) – We’ll find out today who’s on the new season of “Dancing With the Stars.”

The cast announcement for the spring season will be made on “Good Morning America.” TMZ reports D-W-T-S is making one of its riskiest choices ever by adding comedian Andy Dick to the show. Dick has had several run-ins with the law, including guilty pleas to drug and battery charges in California in 2008. He also was sued by a man in Dallas who charged Dick exposed himself during a performance.

ABC has already announced wide receiver Jacoby Jones of the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens will be on the show. He’s known for his end zone dance moves. The new season starts March 18.

NEW YORK (AP) – If you ever need someone to keep a secret, try Janet Jackson. At least she knows how to keep her personal life under wraps. The singer’s people are confirming she has been married since last year. She is hitched to Wissam Al Mana – and in a statement to Entertainment Tonight, the newlyweds ask for privacy. It isn’t the first time Janet Jackson has had a secret marriage. She married Rene Elizondo Junior in 1991 – and didn’t let on that she was hitched until they announced their separation leading to a divorce in 1999. Jackson was also married to singer James DeBarge in 1984 – when she was 18. That marriage lasted three months.

OSCAR NIGHT: “BEST SONG” GOES TO ADELE FOR “SKYFALL”

Adele-2013-Oscars

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Adele’s “Skyfall” has won the Academy Award for best original song. That’s a first for a James Bond theme. Three previous 007 tunes were nominated: “For Your Eyes Only,” “Nobody Does It Better,” and “Live and Let Die.” Adele also performed “Skyfall” for the first time at the ceremony. The cast of “Les Miserables” reunited to perform on the show. During the In Memoriam tribute, in a year that saw the passing of composer-songwriter Marvin Hamlisch, Barbra Streisand made a rare television appearance to sing “The Way We Were” in his honor.

OSCAR NIGHT: SETH MACFARLANE OPENS WITH CAPTAIN KIRK

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Seth MacFarlane didn’t go soft during his first turn as Oscars host, with jokes about domestic violence, breast-baring actresses and the Lincoln assassination. In spite of his good looks and suave manner, he was a nontraditional choice for the job, as the maker of the TV show “Family Guy” and the movie “Ted.” During a long opening monologue, MAcfarlane brought on William Shatner, playing a time-traveling Captain Kirk trying to save MacFarlane from himself. MacFarlane expected groans. He had predicted for weeks that he’d be savaged by the critics.

OSCAR NIGHT: THE BIG WINNERS

LOS ANGELES (AP) – A film about a fake movie, has earned best picture at the Academy Awards. Ben Affleck’s Iran-hostage drama “Argo” won three trophies in all. First lady Michelle Obama helped present the final prize from the White House. Affleck failed to get a nomination for best director. But said he was in good company with other directors who were also left out. Oscar voters spread the honors among a range of films. “Life of Pi” led with four, including best director, Ang Lee.

Daniel Day-Lewis has made Oscar history by becoming the first to win three best actor Oscars. As expected, he won for his portrayal of “Lincoln,” adding to the honors he earned for “My Left Foot” and “There Will Be Blood.” Asked what kind of role he wanted to play next, he said backstage, “It’s hard to imagine doing anything after this.” The best actress winner was also no surprise — Jennifer Lawrence at 22, is the second-youngest woman to win best actress. Her Dion gown gave her an “oops” moment — tripping her as she made her way up the steps to the stage. As the crowd gave her a standing ovation, Lawrence joked, “You guys are just standing up because you feel bad that I fell.”

Christoph Waltz knows who to thank for his Oscars. His second best supporting actor Oscar came for his role in another Quentin Tarantino movie, “Django Unchained.” Waltz also offered gracious thanks to his supporting-actor competition, all of whom are previous Oscar winners. Robert De Niro and Tommy Lee Jones had gotten much of the buzz in the category. “It came true,” were Anne Hathaway’s first words in accepting her Best Supporting Actress Oscar for “Les Miserables.” She got emotional backstage, in explaining that she had a dream that she would win.
