RETURNING FAVORITES AND NEW EXHIBITORS AT HOME SHOW THIS WEEKEND

HOMESHOW
An overhead look at last year’s Home Show. This year’s event will also include A Taste Of The Panhandle, a mini-food court in the servery and commons area.

It’s a Spring tradition (regardless of how Spring-like the weather is): The Town And Country Home Show, presented by Eagle radio stations KCOW-AM in Alliance, B94.7 in Chadron and Double Q Country.  This year’s event is this Saturday and Sunday at Alliance High School.

Of course, Home Show weekend begins early for our exhibitors, who descend upon the gym Friday evening to set up their booth–no small feat when you consider that Home Show booths can resemble anything from a fully furnished livingroom to a scaled-down SUV showroom!  (And it all has to go back Sunday night!)

We appreciate these businesses and organizations for their time and investment into making the 2013 Home Show our best yet!

TONIGHT ON TV: ‘IDOL’ OPENS UP THE VOTE

LAS VEGAS (AP) – The girls are up first, as “American Idol” heads into the semifinals tonight. The ten female contestants will perform. The guys go for it tomorrow night. And on Thursday, the ten finalists will be announced. These are the ten who’ll get to go on the Idol tour this summer. Fans can start voting tonight.
American Idol
Fox is making it easier for “American Idol” fans to vote multiple times. You can cast 50 votes all at once online. You can use the Idol Web site, mobile app or Facebook. Fans will be allowed to vote online during the show and change their votes as they see the performances. The final votes can be sent when the voting window opens at the end of the show. You can also vote the regular way by calling the toll-free numbers or texting. Voting goes on for two hours after the show.

THE BOSS RETURNS TO LONDON ONE YEAR AFTER GETTING “UNPLUGGED” (AND NOT THE MTV KIND)

McCartney_Springsteen_tAP120714023195_620x350

LONDON (AP) – Bruce Springsteen is returning to headline the London Hard Rock Calling festival, a year after the plug was pulled on a duet with Paul McCartney for violating a curfew.

The American rock star brings The E Street Band back to the event that is moving to a new location at the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

Concert organizers Live Nation are leaving Hyde Park amid friction between fans and the neighborhood’s well-heeled residents, many of whom gripe about the late-night noise.

Springsteen had already exceeded the 10:30 p.m. curfew by half an hour when he welcomed McCartney on stage. They sang the Beatles hits “I Saw Her Standing There” and “Twist and Shout.” But officials turned the microphones off, and they were forced to leave the stage in silence.

HOME SHOW WEEKEND IS HERE!

Thousands of visitors from Box Butte County and the surrounding area will make the 2013 Town and Country Home Show part of their weekend tomorrow and Sunday March 9th and 10th.  Saturday hours are 9:00am to 4:00pm, with the Home Show open Sunday from 11:00am to 3:00pm.  The event is presented by Eagle radio stations KCOW-AM in Alliance, B94.7 in Chadron, and Double Q Country.

For a quarter-century, the Home Show has been a Spring tradition in Alliance–and although the tradition contunues with this year’s event, the goal for our radio team is to make each year’s event new and exciting.  One of this year’s new additions is A Taste Of The Panhandle, a mini-food court in the Alliance High commons area and servery.  Four area caterers and restaurants will be making and selling their culinary creations on-site–so plan to have lunch with us!  Also new this year: on Sunday the commons area will feature non-profit organizations and service clubs.  We’re proud to offer free table space to these groups, and encourage you to visit them on Sunday to learn about volunteering opportunities in our community.

We appreciate these businesses and organizations for their time and investment into making the 2013 Home Show our best yet!

BOX OFFICE: “JACK THE GIANT SLAYER” A WEAK #1

LOS ANGELES (AP) – “Jack The Giant Slayer” won the box office – but not the hearts of America. It made $28 million in its opening weekend, which is enough to put it at number one at the box office. However, because it took about $200 million to make, movie experts consider that a disappointing opening. “Identity Thief” is second, making $9.7 million. Two other new movies opened this weekend but also had disappointing numbers: “21 And Over” made $9 million, putting it in third, and “The Last Exorcism Part 2” made $8 million, taking fourth.
