Teen pleads not guilty to murder charge in man’s slaying

GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (AP) — A teenage boy accused of shooting to death a 32-year-old man in Grand Island has pleaded not guilty.

Hall County District Court records say a lawyer for the 16-year-old entered written pleas on Friday. The charges: first-degree murder and use of a firearm to commit a felony.

A September trial was scheduled, but court records don’t yet show that a final decision has been made on whether the boy’s case will be moved to juvenile court. The Associated Press generally doesn’t name juveniles accused of crimes.

Police say he killed Vincent Arrellano Jr., who died at a hospital April 24 after being found by officers.
