Former Chadron State College basketball standout Jason Robinson of Queen Creek, Ariz., seems to be making good progress as he recovers from a stem cell transplant that he received from his younger brother Jeremy in mid-January for lymphoma, a cancer of the blood.

Robinson’s wife, Tresha, says in an e-mail sent Monday that said tests conducted last week indicated everything has gone well so far.

Tresha, a veterinarian and like her husband a 1994 graduate of CSC, says one test indicated that 100% of the stem cells circulating in Jason’s bloodstream originated from Jeremy, adding “That’s what we were hoping for.”

Still, she says “Jason won’t let us get too excited about the reports we received last week. Once we get past the 100-day mark, maybe he will let us get excited.”

The stem cell transplant took place at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix after Jeremy’s stem cells were determined to be a perfect match for Jason’s. Jason has been home since February 1st with twice a week checkups and another complete scan to come in four weeks.”

Jason Robinson has been battling lymphoma about two years. A similar transplant using Jason’s own stem cells failed last year.

Jason, Jeremy, and older brother Josh Robinson are all members of the CSC Athletic Hall of Fame after coming to the school  from Thompson Valley High School in Loveland, Colo…one every two years between 1988 and 1992.

Josh is the school’s all-time leading scorer, Jason #4, and Jeremy #10. Together the brothers scored 5,081 points and grabbed 2,128 rebounds.

Jeremy lives near Joes, Colo., where he works with horses and coaches the girls’ basketball team at Liberty High School.

Josh has a woodworking business and is the boys’ basketball coach at the Robinsons’ old high school, Thompson Valley…where he was just named conference coach of the year after a 16-7 regular season.
