WICHITA, Neb. (AP) — Police in Wichita have announced the suspension of one of their own after the officer’s arrest on suspicion of drunk driving.

The Wichita Police Department issued a news release Saturday saying an off-duty Wichita officer was arrested Friday evening in Mulvane on suspicion of driving under the influence. Mulvane is a suburb of Wichita.

Officials did not release a name, but say the officer is an 18-year veteran of the Wichita force. The officer has been placed on paid administrative assignment.

The case is being investigated by the Mulvane Police Department, and the Wichita department will conduct an internal review..
