The Nebraska State College System says the NCAA has released its formal Notice of Allegations over potential violations by the Chadron State College football program.

The Notice should be available online tomorrow on both the CSC and NSCS websites after a review by school and system officials.

The potential violations involved money from 4 fundraising golf tournaments and checking accounts set up outside college control by then-head football coach Bill O’Boyle.

Chadron State and the NSCS self-reported the issue last fall, with the school suspending O’Boyle and eventually deciding not to renew his contract.

The college, NSCS, and the NCAA conducted an investigation using an outside firm experience in such matters, releasing the final report in july.

A release from the NSCS office says Chadron State College will thoroughly review the allegations before submitting a written response to the Notice of Allegations to the NCAA by a December 17 due date.

A hearing by the NCAA Committee on Infractions is tentatively scheduled as part of the committee’s meeting next February 22-24, with a specific time and date to be announced later.

Representatives from Chadron State will present the panel with an institutional response at that hearing.

NSCS Chancellor Stan Carpenter says the school and system will continue to cooperate with the NCAA to resolve the matter.

Carpenter also says he’s confident in the “new leadership of the football program at Chadron,” with head coach Jay Long, the college, and the NSCS to “restore Chadron’s good standing with the NCAA and continue the
football program’s strong tradition of success.”
