Man checking Nebraska State Patrol building doors arrested

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The Nebraska State Patrol says a Waterloo man has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence after a bizarre encounter in a patrol building parking lot in Omaha.

The patrol says the 49-year-old man was seen checking doors and trying to enter the patrol building around 8 a.m. Thursday. When he met a patrol investigator in the parking lot, he ran to his truck. Another trooper then approached the man in his truck. That trooper said he believed the man was under the influence of drugs, and the man was arrested on suspicion of a third-offense DUI and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The man was booked into the Douglas County jail.
