The trial for former Hemingford police chief Mark Lindburg has been delayed until July.

Lindburg’s attorney, public defender Dave Eubanks, told District Court Judge Travis O’Gorman that he needed more time to receive evidence from state prosecutors.

Lindburg’s trial was scheduled to begin April 29. He is charged with felony sexual assault of a child and child abuse. He is accused of having sex with a 15-year-old girl during calendar year 2010.

Lindburg remains in custody in the Scotts Bluff County Jail. A second request to have his bond reduced from $100,000 was denied by Judge O’Gorman. State prosecutor Matt Lierman of the attorney general’s office told the judge that he believed Lindburg could be a flight risk and felt the bond was apprropriate for the charges. He also shared with the judge that he believed the bond could have been set at one million dollars.

The 52-year-old Lindburg waived his right to a speedy trial.

Lindburg resigned as the Hemingford Police Chief in Nov., 2011.
