Funeral services for Donna L. Goldstedt will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at 10:00 AM at Chamberlain Chapel in Chadron with Father Tim Stoner officiating.  A wake service will be held on Friday, July 26, 2013 at 7:00 PM at Chamberlain Chapel.

Donna Goldstedt died Monday, July 22, at the Chadron Community Hospital.

She was born to William C. and Mae (Peters) Manion on September 2, 1935, in a sod house on her parents’ farm in rural Box Butte County.

She attended rural schools, graduated from St. Agnes Academy, and taught in rural schools while obtaining her degree from Chadron State College. She also earned a master’s degree at Black Hills State.

She married Lloyd J. Goldstedt at Holy Rosary Church in Alliance on June 9, 1956. The couple lived at Kimball, Alliance, Porcupine and Manderson, S.D., before moving to Chadron.  Donna spent 11 years teaching young children of Rural Box Butte County before she and Lloyd retired after teaching about 22 years in Pine Ridge Reservation schools.

Donna was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and assisted with funeral dinners and other projects at the church.  She displayed artwork throughout her home that she painted in her painter’s club.  Donna enjoyed socializing when playing cards with her card clubs.  She also took joy in going on a conquest to auctions to find the many treasures that she placed in her home. Donna has spent much time with her husband traveling the world visiting almost 40 countries on 4 different continents.  Her greatest joy was her husband, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Lloyd, of the home; son, John, Hemingford; grandchildren, Matt Young of Norfolk, Jon (Holly) Young of Newport, Amber (Jeremy) Duffy of Loveland, Colo., Sabrina (Dustin) Johannes of Germany; Tami (Kyle) Goldstedt of Alliance, and Shane Goldstedt of Loveland; great-grandchildren, McKayla, Sandra, Ryan, Preston, Kyra and Jacob.

Also surviving her are her brother, Maurice Manion of Stillwater, Okla., and her sister, Dorothy Kunzman of Alliance, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sandra Young, her parents, four sisters and four brothers.

A memorial has been established for the Dawes County Fair and 4H program and the St. Patrick’s Honor Society.  Donations may be sent to Chamberlain Chapel, PO Box 970, Chadron, NE  69337
