The Dawes County Spelling Bee was held on Tuesday February 26 at the Chadron Middle School library.

Walt Mays who is an 8th grader took home 1st place. Mays was able to spell in the winning word, which was persistent.

With the win Walt advances to the Midwest Spelling Bee in Omaha on Saturday March 9th.

Greta Welch, an 8th grader came in 2nd place, while Savanna Sayaloune a 5th grader came in 3rd place.
