CHADRON – The Chadron State College softball team  opens its Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schedule this weekend at Colorado State University-Pueblo, but a day earlier than planned.

Forecasts of snow on Sunday has moved the scheduled four games from doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday to doubleheaders on Friday and Saturday. First pitch Friday will be at 1:00 while Saturday’s opener begins at noon.

The Eagles began their 2013 season two weeks ago at the Las Vegas Desert Stinger Tournament hosted by Montana State University-Billings. They played well and outscored their opponents 26-23, but went just 1-4.

CSU-Pueblo has also played five games, but at a tournament in San Angelo, Texas, where they went 3-2. The ThunderWolves have four players with a batting average of at least .400 while sophomore Kelli Henry is their top pitcher with a 2-0 record and 2.23 ERA.

Chadron State’s home opener is next weekend, Saturday March 2 and Sunday March 3, when the Eagles welcome the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs to Chadron.
