CSC PLACES 4 AT CENTRAL WYO RODEO

Four Chadron State College entries placed among the top five in their events at the rodeo hosted by Central Wyoming College in Riverton over the weekend.

The rodeo was the first of the school year in the Central Rocky Mountain Region. The second will be this weekend at CSC.
Three of the four CSC place winners at Central Wyoming are new to the team this fall.

The exception was Lane Day, a sophomore from Bartlett, Neb. He finished fifth in tie down roping after placing fourth in the opening go-round in 10.9 seconds and third in the finals in 11.4 seconds.

The others who earned paychecks are Shelby Winchell of Scottsbluff, Amy Tierney of Oral, S.D., and Colten Blanchard of Sulphur, La.

Winchell placed second in the goat tying averages. She was fourth in the first go-round in 9.1 seconds and won the second go-round in 8.4 seconds.

Tierney finished third in the barrel race. She was fourth on her first run in 18.21 seconds and was second in the finals in 17.83 seconds.

Blanchard was fourth in the bareback riding with scores of 72 points and 71 points. He was fifth in the opening go-round and third in the finals.

Tierney also reached the finals in breakaway roping by placing in the top 10 in the first go-round, but she failed to catch her second calf.

Three other Chadron State contestants also qualified for the finals, but didn’t score in them. They are Jace Bleckwell of Rapid City and Zane Smith of Broken Bow in saddle bronc riding and Clint Lambrecht of Wood River in steer wrestling.

The Chadron State rodeo will be at the Dawes County Fairgrounds in Chadron. Performances will be at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 10 a.m. on Sunday following Cowboy Church. Admission will be $5 each performance.
