“DWTS” RESULTS SHOW….YOUR JOURNEY ENDS HERE (CUE EMOTIONAL “BEST-OF” MONTAGE)

D

LOS ANGELES (AP) – You won’t have as much “Dancing With the Stars” to kick around anymore, starting next season. ABC says it is going to air only a single, two-hour episode of the show each week. The show will air only on Monday nights – which means no, highlight laden, drawn-out episode before the two minutes anyone who cares about the show wants to see: who gets to move on and who goes home. ABC didn’t say how it plans to handle the weekly elimination without a second show during the week. Freeing Tuesday from DWTS means ABC will stack that night with new series, instead.

BIEBER, BON JOVI AND BANDITS IN SOUTH AFRICA

JOHANNESBURG (AP) – While the artists played, some cats got away – with several hundred thousand dollars. Authorities in Johannesburg, South Africa say thieves were able to crack a safe that was holding money from concessions at a stadium where Justin Bieber and Jon Bon Jovi performed over the weekend. News reports say the thieves climbed down a ladder and used ropes to drop into a lock room where the concession money was kept. It’s believed the ripoff took place early Monday morning, after Bieber performed. Bon Jovi performed Saturday. Authorities say they are looking at the robbery as an inside job.

REALITY ROUNDUP: GARRETT AND VEDO LEAVE “VOICE”, INGO LEAVES “DANCING”

Reality TV Logo

LOS ANGELES (AP) -Garrett Gardner of Team Shakira and Vedo from Team Usher are going home from “The Voice.” They were the lowest vote-getters. Gardner was eliminated just moments after he said how grateful he was to be there, given that he had tried out before and hadn’t been chosen. That brings the 12 finalists down to 10. All 12 finalists had charted on iTunes with downloads of their performances, and those downloads counted toward their vote total.

The soap opera star is the latest washout on “Dancing With the Stars.” But rather than disappointment, Ingo Rademacher says he’s glad he made it this far. He says being on the show was “amazing experience” and that when he started, he figured he “was going to be gone after two weeks.” Rademacher credits pro-dance partner Kym Johnson for helping to make it as far as he did. He says it was Johnson who was able to configure dance routines to accommodate his “two left feet,” as he put it. Next week: the Dancing With the Stars finals. Also worth noting, last night’s show was the 300th of the ABC series.

TAYLOR SWIFT SLATED TO PERFORM AT CMT AWARDS

Double Q Country_Taylor Swift

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – Look for Taylor Swift to perform at the CMT Music Awards next month. She leads a list of top country stars who will perform at the event June 5 in Nashville. Others on the first wave of performers announced include Miranda Lambert’s Pistol Annies, Luke Bryan, Hunter Hayes and Little Big Town. Other performers and presenters will be announced between now and the show. The hosts will be Jason Aldean and Kristen Bell and the ceremony will be broadcast live.

ANGELINA JOLIE HAS DOUBLE MASTECTOMY TO WARD OFF BREAST CANCER

Angelina-jolie-1354205219

NEW YORK (AP) – Angelina Jolie says her doctor told her she had a nearly 9-in-10 chance of developing breast cancer. So she has taken matters into her own hand – by having both of her breasts removed. The actress revealed that she had a double mastectomy in an op-ed piece in today’s New York Times. She says the procedures took three months to complete. Jolie is just 37 years old. And she says she is going public with the news to help other women who may be facing the same dilemma. Now that women can be tested for the genetic marker for breast cancer, many women have chosen to have their breasts removed rather than run the risk of getting that form of cancer. But this is the first time someone so young – just 37 – and so well known – has publicly announced that she has.

REALITY ROUNDUP: OVERHEATED “VOICE”, FIXING “IDOL”

Reality TV Logo

LOS ANGELES (AP) – It was a hot competition on “The Voice” last night. The air conditioning broke and it was 83 degrees in Los Angeles at showtime. Both Blake Shelton and Usher shed their jackets, and Usher sat in just a tank top. The AC went back on about 40 minutes into the show. As for the competition, The Swon Brothers from Team Blake did a tribute to George Jones with “Who’s Gonna Fill Their Shoes.” Amber Carrington did a tribute to her mother, who died of cancer, with “I’m Gonna Love You Through It.” The judges were not so sure about Garrett Gardner doing a rock version of the Backstreet Boys song “I Want It That Way,” even though Shakira assigned it to him. However, Shelton said an artist has got to be able to deal with something out of left field. The bottom two vote-getters, regardless of team, will be sent home tonight.

Which of the five will stay alive for the “Dancing With The Stars” mirrorball trophy and which will be sent home? We’ll find out the answer tonight when one pair of dancers gets sent home. It’s a close call as to who will have to turn in their dance shoes – there are just 9 points separating the pairs. Tied with the lead at 59 points each are Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas and Jacoby Jones and Karina Smirnoff. Each of them scored perfect rounds with their first dance, requested by Twitter fans and fell one point shy of perfection on their second dance. Also getting a perfect score the first time around: country singer Kellie Pickler and her pro dance partner, Derek Hough.

NEW YORK (AP) – There will probably be three judges on “American Idol” next year instead of four. Fox Entertainment chairman Kevin Reilly said at the unveiling of Fox’s upcoming TV schedule that “everything is on the table” for next season. He refused to say whether Mariah Carey, Nicki Minaj and Keith Urban will be back. Randy Jackson has already announced his departure. Reilly says the decisions about “Idol” will be made soon because the show starts taping for next season within weeks. “Idol” will stay on Wednesdays and Thursdays when it returns in January for its 13th season.
