From Bing Crosby’s final Christmas special, taped in London weeks before his passing in 1977:
LOS ANGELES (AP) – A license to kill — at the box office. James Bond moves back to number-one. “Skyfall” takes in another $11 million in its fifth weekend in theaters. Its worldwide total is now 918 mil — the best ever for a Bond film. The animated “Rise of the Guardians” is a close second this weekend. “The Twilight Saga” finale drops to third — after three weekends at number-one. “Lincoln” is just hair back in fourth. The rankings could change when the final figures are released today.
NEW YORK (AP) – Why do the Rolling Stones keep playing shows? Because people keep showing up. The Stones played in New York Saturday night in one of the few concerts they’re doing this year to mark 50 years as a band. Mick Jagger told the audience, “You’re the reason we’re doing this. Thank you for buying our records and coming to our shows for the last 50 years.” Mary J. Blige and Gary Clark Junior were guest musicians. The Stones will also play in Newark, New Jersey on Thursday and Saturday. The Stones are also the latest big-name act to sign on for next week’s Superstorm Sandy benefit show in New York City. They will perform with other Brit acts The Who and Paul McCartney. Among the others to appear include Alicia Keys, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel and Chris Martin. The 12-12-12 show at Madison Square Garden will be available on TV or online to some 2 billion people – and producers say it will be the most widely available live concert ever.
UNDATED (AP) – Looks like PSY was biting the hand that feeds him – even before it started feeding him.
The South Korean rapper who became an Internet sensation with his song “Gangnam Style” now says he’s sorry for taking part in anti-U.S. protests several years ago. Park Jae-sang came out with a statement of regret after it was revealed he was involved in concerts protesting the U.S. military presence in South Korea in the early stages of the Iraq war.
At a concert in 2004, the rapper performs a song with lyrics about killing “Yankees” including the lyrics: “Kill their daughters, mothers, daughters-in-law, and fathers/Kill them all slowly and painfully.”PSY now says he’s “deeply sorry” and that his language was “inappropriate.”
PSY attended college in the U.S. and has even performed in front American servicemen and women.

BURBANK, Calif. (AP) – We now know why Drew Barrymore named her daughter Olive and it wasn’t because she the starring voice in the movie “Olive, The Other Reindeer.” Barrymore told Ellen DeGeneres on her talk show that she was reading a baby book when she was three months pregnant and saw that a baby at that age is the size of an olive. She says “that was it” and she “never looked back.” Olive is ten months old now. She’s the first baby for Barrymore and her husband Wil Kopelman.

NEW YORK (AP) – Metallica is finally getting into the “stream” of things. The band says it is going to let its music be streamed online – bringing 30 years of their recordings to Spotify. How big of a deal is this? A dozen years ago, Metallica was among several acts who sued Napster – a site on which users “shared” copyrighted music. The suit forced Napster to go legit and that laid the groundwork for what are known today as streaming services. Metallica drummer Lars Ulrich says the group sat back for a while to see how the streaming industry would go – and is “beyond psyched” to work with Spotify.
