LOS ANGELES (AP) – The brother who refused to speak in “Little Miss Sunshine” will play Brian Wilson in a movie about Wilson’s life. The Hollywood Reporter reports Paul Dano has been cast as Wilson in the film “Love and Mercy.” The script will focus on Wilson’s mental illness and relationship with his wife Melinda. Dano will portray Wilson as a young man. The older Wilson has not yet been cast. Wilson’s music will be used in the film, which will start shooting in early summer.
WASHINGTON (AP) -Beyonce’, James Taylor and Kelly Clarkson are getting ready for their big gigs as part of the inaugural festivities today. Beyonce’ will sing the national anthem. Taylor will sing “America the Beautiful.” Clarkson will sing “My Country ‘Tis Of Thee.” There are only two official inaugural balls in Washington tonight, but they’re packed with big-name entertainment. The 2013 Inaugural Ball will feature Stevie Wonder, Soundgarden, Katy Perry, Usher, Alicia Keys and Brad Paisley. Keys, Paisley and Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell will also perform at The Commander In Chief’s Ball, along with Marc Anthony, Jennifer Hudson and Jamie Foxx.
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Oh “Mama” — Jessica Chastain dominates the weekend box office. Chastain has the top two movies this weekend. Her supernatural horror film “Mama” opens at number one with more than $28 million. “Zero Dark Thirty” falls to second, with 17.6 mil. “Silver Linings Playbook” is third. Arnold Schwarzenegger’s return to top-billing is off to a weak start. Schwarzenegger’s new film “The Last Stand” barely cracks the weekend top 10. It brings a little over 6 million — one of his worst openings ever.

NEW YORK (AP) – “Survivor” has revived Lisa Whelchel’s acting career. A month after coming in second in “Survivor: Philippines” Whelchel says she’s landed a role in Tyler Perry’s next movie, “A Madea Christmas.” Whelchel tells People.com that she got the part three hours after auditioning. It was her first audition in 33 years. Whelchel put her career on hold for the most part to raise her three children.
LOS ANGELES (AP) – Al Pacino is going to play Joe Paterno in a movie directed by Brian De Palma, who directed him in “Scarface.” The movie will be based on Poe Posnanski’s best-seller “Paterno.” The producer describes it as the story “of a complex, intensely righteous man who was brought down by own own tragic flaw.”
NEW ORLEANS (AP) – Billy Joel, Maroon 5, Willie Nelson, Fleetwood Mac and Hall & Oates are among the acts headlining this year’s New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. The outdoor spring music event features hundreds of jazz, gospel, R&B, Cajun and zydeco musicians. Festival favorites Irma Thomas, jazz singer and pianist Allen Toussaint and Troy “Trombone Shorty” Andrews are among the many local artists performing. A number of national acts are also scheduled including Earth Wind & Fire, Dave Matthews Band, John Mayer, Jill Scott, Widespread Panic and B.B. King. The festival kicks off on April 26 and runs through May 5.
CHICAGO (AP) – How to get a golden ticket to Hollywood? Win over the “American Idol” judges before you start singing. One Idol hopeful just had to tell the judges her name, Mariah. Mariah Carey told her they were part of an exclusive club. She makes it. So does a 15-year-old named Isabelle, who cut school for her audition. She got Keith Urban to sing a duet with her. One guy who auditioned could barely talk. But he could sing. Lazaro Arbos has a severe stutter and was the last person to audition in Chicago. He gets a golden ticket to Hollywood, along with 45 others. Another usual story concerned Clifton Duffin. His parents had never heard him sing before. The judges invited his folks in during the audition. He makes and Nicki Minaj says Clifton will inspire others to come out of their shells. Forty-six singers move on from the Chicago auditions. Next week, Idol moves to Charlotte, North Carolina.
JASON: How cool was that to see Clifton’s parents hear their son sing for the first time? Loved that moment. And Isabelle (duet partner for Keith Urban) was very cute and charming…but she seemed to be copying the Zooey Deschanel vocal style on “Baby It’s Cold Outside.” I wonder how she’ll do in Hollywood when there are lots of different musical genres to conquer…

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) – It will be a little bit country and a little bit rock n’ roll when Stevie Nicks and Lady Antebellum team up for a new episode of CMT Crossroads.
The show pairs country artists with their favorite rock performers for a live collaborative show. The members of Lady A will meet Nicks for the very first time when they walk onto the Crossroads stage in Los Angeles to swap stories and share songs.
The episode is scheduled to air later this year.
