York Man Pleads Not Guilty in Unemployment Fraud Case

YORK, Neb. (AP) – A 50-year-old York man accused of unemployment fraud has pleaded not guilty.

Timothy Ballard entered the plea Monday during his arraignment in York County District Court. His trial is scheduled to begin April 19.

Ballard filed weekly unemployment claims for 60 weeks, between Feb. 7, 2012, and Feb. 7 2015. A Nebraska Labor Department field worker says in court documents, however, that Ballard had a paying job for 32 of those weeks. The worker says Ballard received more than $7,800 to which he was not entitled.
