SPEARFISH, S.D. – Chelsey Biegler and Bailey Kusser each scored 20 points and the Black Hills State women’s basketball team led wire-to-wire in its 58-42 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference victory Saturday in Spearfish, S.D.

With the win, Black Hills State improves to 12-14 overall and 11-11 in the RMAC to end the season eighth in the conference standings.

However, since the Yellow Jackets are not eligible for the Division II playoffs because they’re still in the probationary period of joining D-II, they did not qualify for the RMAC postseason tournament that begins next week.

The Eagles end their season with a 5-21 record, including a 5-17 record in the conference to finish in 11th place.

Kattie Ranta led Chadron State with 17 points and nine rebounds to narrowly miss out on what would’ve been her eighth double double of the season.

Ranta, who scored 404 points this season to rank 14th all-time, averaged 15.5 points and 8.2 rebounds in 26 games. Her scoring average ranks her in the school’s top 20 and her 215 rebounds are the sixth most in a season.

Also for Chadron State in Saturday’s game, Kate Simonton scored 11 points and Dallas Shaw chipped in six points and two assists. Sadie Waugh, the Eagles lone senior, had 3 points and 3 rebounds…2 offensive…in her final game.

On the night, Chadron State sank just 15 of 55 shots (27 percent) compared to 22 of 49 for Black Hills (45 percent).
