

Wyoming schools dominated the annual Chadron High Invitational Wrestling Tournament over the weekend. Gillette-Campbell County took the championship with 308 points, Cheyenne East was 2nd with 249, and Casper Natrona finished 4th with 140.
Fossil Ridge of Fort Collins, CO, claimed 3rd with 172.5 while Alliance, Valentine, and host Chadron finished 5-7 with 131, 121, and 98.5 points respectively.
Gillette put 6 wrestlers into the finals and 5 claimed titles including the first 4 wrestled…106, 113, 120, and 132…along with 160.
The Camels’ only loss in the finals came at 152 pounds where Jordan Fischer lost 5-1 to Tyson Dowler of Alliance. Dowler extended his season record to a perfect 22-0 by going 5-0 with 3 pins and a technical fall leading into the finals.
Chadron provided the only other champion from the Panhandle: Chance Bila at 170. Bila also kept an undefeated season going in strong fashion as he followed an opening round bye with a pin, a technical fall, and a major decision before taking the title with another major decision 15-7.
One other area wrestler also claimed at championship at the Chadron Invitational, Martin-Bennett County’s 182-pound Dalton McCollam…who beat Cooper Cogdill of Chadron. McCollam improved to 24-1 as he scored two pins and a technical fall before getting an 8-4 decision over Cogdill, who lost for just the third time in 19 matches.
Bila, a senior who is 28-0 on the year, took honors as the Outstanding Wrestler in the heavier weight classes while another senior, Taylor Killion of Fossil Ridge, took lower weight honors. Killion improved his season mark to 17-0 with a pin in the 138 title match.
