WOMEN’S RANCH RODEO SAT, SUN IN CRAWFORD

Women's rodeo -1The Old West Trail Rodeo and Cowgirl Swank are teaming up this weekend for the Cowgirl Swank Classic Women’s Ranch Rodeo Saturday and Sunday at the Old West Trail Rodeo arena in Crawford.

The two-day event is co-sanctioned by the Women’s Ranch Rodeo Association and the Western States Ranch Rodeo Association, with the first session Saturday evening at 7:00 and the second Sunday morning at 10:00.

There’s also an Open Stray Gathering Saturday morning at 10:00, with the rules of the WRRA used in all sanctioned events.

The average winners both days qualify for both the WRRA’s World Finals October 18th and 19th in Dodge City, Kansas, and the WSRRA’s World Finals in Winnemucca, Nevada, October 31st through November 3rd.

Each team for the ranch rodeo will consist of 4 women and will will compete in 5 events: trailer loading, doctoring, calf branding, sorting, and tie down.

Prizes will be awarded for 1st – 4th place each day as well as for the 1st – 4th of the Average, Top Ranch Hand, and Top Ranch Horse.

The Top Ranch Hand will be selected by a vote of the judges and the Top Ranch Horse by a vote of the contestants.   The awards ceremony will follow Sunday’s rodeo.
