WHITNEY LEAK FIXED, WATER CHLORINATED, BOIL WATER ADVISORY STILL ON

Boil Water -1 The major leak that essentially shut down Dawes County Water District 1 on Monday and part of Tuesday has been repaired, the system repressurized, and the water is now being chlorinated but a Boil Water Advisory remains in effect.

Mike Kesselring, operator of the system that serves the village of Whitney and much of north-central Dawes County, plans to continue injecting chlorine in the water for the next two weeks to guard against any contamination that may have occurred because of the break.

Kesselring says the Boil Water advisory will likely run that long as well since it can’t be lifted until the system is tested for the state and gets a clean result.
