Veterans State Cemetery at Alliance Foundation to Commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the End of World World II this Sunday

August 16th has been designated as the day for Commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of the End of World War II. The Spirit of ’45 organization has invited national, state, and tribal veteran cemeteries to be a participant in the “International Tribute” scheduled for that weekend. Wreath laying ceremonies will begin at Manila American Cemetery in the Philippines and continue in a westerly direction around the world. After event in Europe and throughout the United States, a final garland will be placed at the National Memorial of the Pacific Cemetery in Hawaii.

Invited by the Veterans State Cemetery at Alliance Foundation, World War II veterans from the 11 western countries in Nebraska will have a “Tribute” to attend. Board Directors and Veteran Service Officers throughout the Panhandle have volunteered to get the word out. Nebraska’s State Veterans Cemetery, located at 2610 County Road 57 in Alliance, is the closest location, within hours, having a ceremony. This 70th Anniversary End of World War II Commemoration starts at 1:00 P.M on Sunday, August 16th at Nebraska’s State Veterans Cemetery, 2610 County Road 57 in Alliance.
