With Regis earning the RMAC Tournament Championship and berth into this week’s NCAA Division II Tournament opener the rest of the conference is focusing firmly on what lies ahead.
That includes the Chadron State Eagles who battled hard on its final weekend of play in April – winning two of four against the top two teams in the RMAC – but ultimately missing the conference tournament by finishing in 10th place.
Looking ahead at 2016 Coach Rob Stack will need to replace three seniors who contributed plenty during their time with the program.
Stack says the Eagles will focus on building an outfield, especially now that Eatmon and Wetsch are departing. But, despite less experience there are several options already on the roster.
As for the incoming convocation of Eagles for next season, Stack has signed four high school standouts to Letters of Intent and recently picked up a JUCO talent. One of Chadron State’s incoming athletes went her entire senior year in high school without striking out.
As for the NCAA Tournament, Regis will face RMAC foe Metro State in the South Central 2 Regionals opening on Friday. West Texas A&M won the 2014 title and is in this year’s field after winning the Lone Star Conference.
