The Theatre West summer theater program in Scottsbluff opens the second of its 3 shows tonight, the Tony-winning Spamalot…based on the Monty Python movie “King Arthur and the Holy Grail.”
Director James Alexander Bond says Spamalot draws from several Monty Python movies and skits, showcasing the irreverent fun of the famed British comedy troupe of the 60’s and 70’s in a musical that’s great for kids and their parents.
Bond calls his production high-energy with “all kinds of scenes, dances, and styles of music”…with “songs everythwhere you don’t expect songs.”
Nearly all the cast fills multiple roles, which Bond says allows them to stretch their comedic skills.
Performances at the Western Nebraska Community College Little Theatre are 7:30 tonight through Saturday and next Wednesday through Saturday.
Tickets are $39 for families; $17 for adults; $16 for seniors; $9 for juniors; and $7 for students and will be available at the door.
The final Theatre West production of the season, Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, runs next month July 17-27 with the same Wednesday-Saturday two-week schedule.
