BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. (AP) — Quick – name a singer from “The Voice” who has gone on to become a superstar? Coming up empty? That’s no problem, say the show’s mentors. Adam Levine says it “would be really nice” if the show would produce a star like “American Idol” alums Jennifer Hudson, Carrie Underwood or Jordin Sparks.
But Levine says that isn’t the point of the show. Christina Aguilera agrees. She says it’s unrealistic to expect someone from a singing competition to become an overnight sensation. She says it took a while for her own career to become solid, so she wouldn’t expect that from anyone else.
“The Voice” returns for its fifth season September 23.
