A dozen Omaha South High School cross country runners will enter the Colter Run on Saturday morning in Chadron.

Rob Wahlstrom, the Colter Run director, said he received a call from the South High cross country coach, John Tripp, on Monday, asking if the Packers could take part. Wahlstrom said certainly and has set aside commemorative tee-shirts for each of them.

For several years, Tripp and his runners have been using a cabin located near Custer belonging to Don and Stephanie King of Chadron as the headquarters for a summer training excursion in the Black Hills.  This year, they are adding the Colter Run to the agenda.

King said he became acquainted with Tripp about six years ago through mutual friends, Ryan and Sarah Milner, who lived in Chadron while she was the coordinator of the Nelson Physical Activity Center.

The Omaha South boys placed 10th and the girls were seventh in Class A at the Nebraska State Cross Country Meet last fall.
