The Sterling Police Department is investigating an armed robbery at a local pharmacy; with similar details to three separate panhandle pharmacy robberies.
Shortly before 1 p.m. Tuesday, the Sterling Police Department responded to an armed robbery at Wal-Mart located on West Main Street.
The initial investigation has determined that a male approached the Wal-Mart pharmacy counter and brandished a handgun while demanding narcotics. The male was provided the narcotics and he exited the store. No one was injured as a result of the incident.
The male is described as being heavy set, approximately 5’11” – 6’00” tall with a light colored beard. He was wearing a red baseball style cap, light blue checkered long sleeve shirt and dark colored jeans. He was last seen heading east on foot in the Wal-Mart Parking lot. The suspect may also be associated with a dark colored car.
The Sterling Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
Last month, a man fitting the similar description successfully robbed the Shopko Pharmacy in Alliance. In addition, the Scottsbluff Walgreens was victim to a nearly identical crime in October, 2014 and again in February, 2015.
