CHADRON – There are still spaces available for the 21st annual Chadron State College Don Beebe Golf Classic, coming up Memorial Day Weekend.
The golfing will be Saturday May 23, and Sunday May 24, at Ridgeview Country Club in Chadron, but a free public reception and auction will kick off the weekend Friday the 22nd at the Country Kitchen Restaurant.
The reception and silent auction start at 6:30 with a live auction featuring sports memorabilia, travel packages, golf getaways, an Arkansas fishing trip and more beginning at 7:30. All proceeds from the auction benefit CSC athletics.
A highlight this year will be the return of tournament founder and namesake Don Beebe, the Chadron State graduate and Athletic Hall of Famer who played 9 years in the NFL and was on six Super Bowl teams.
Beebe is scheduled to play along with ex-NFL special teams standout turned TV analyst Steve Tasker – who took part in the Classic several times in its early years – his brother Dan Beebe, a former CSC basketball player who coached the Eagles’ men team for 9 years, and current Chadron State registrar Dale Williamson – who won the Nebraska Men’s Golf Amateur Championship in 1994.
The entry fee for the Classic, a four-person scramble, is $150 per person. The fee includes green fees, golf cart, continental breakfast and lunch both days, one dinner ticket and a tourney souvenir. Registrations must be submitted prior to April 20.
The registration form for the tournament is available online. For more information, contact the Chadron State Alumni Office at 308-432-6366.
