SISTER KATHLEEN DILLON, 88

Sister Kathleen Dillon, 88, died Tuesday, January 1, 2012 at Marian Residence.  She was born on September 11, 1924 in Alliance to Thomas and Katherine (Watson) Dillon and was named Katherine Stella.

She entered the Sisters of St. Francis of Penance and Christian Charity at Marycrest in Denver, CO on February 3, 1945 and professed her vows on August 17, 1946 and took the name, Sister M. Kathleen.

She started training as a student x-ray technician at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Minot, ND in 1946 and finished her x-ray technician training in 1950. During her training and afterwards she worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Alliance from 1947 to 1954. She later received her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Regis College in Denver in 1963.  She also worked at St. Mary’s Hospital in Scottsbluff as a Superior from 1955 to 1960. She returned to Alliance and St. Jospeh’s Hospital in 1963 working as an x-ray technician and also in administration until 1981. She later worked in pastoral care at San Damiano, Minot, ND, St. Joseph’s Gerontology and later Highland Park in Alliance before retiring in 2003.

Sister Kathleen is survived by her sisters and brother, Evelyn Haas of Naperville, IL; Edna Broad, Aggie Kunzman of Alliance, Maureen Nelson of Wayne, Donald Dillon of Lincoln and Judy Rodell of Alliance, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas, John “Dickie” and Patrick.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, January 4 at 2:00 p.m. at Marian Chapel with Father Lou Nollette officiating.  Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.  Wake services will be Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at Marian Chapel.

Memorials may be given to the Sisters of St. Francis.
