Sandstrom, Roybal Earn Chadron State’s RMAC Honor Student-Athlete Awards

Zach Sandstrom and Erika Roybal are the recipients of Chadron State College’s Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference’s Honor Student-Athlete Awards for 2014-15.

The awards are given for outstanding achievement in both academics and athletics. The RMAC annually recognizes one male and one female athletes from each of its member institutions with the student-athlete awards.

Both Sandstrom and Roybal were exemplary team leaders and students.

Sandstrom, a senior defensive tackle from Chadron, was the anchor of a stout defensive line that limited its opponents to under 180 yards of rushing per game in 2014. He finished with 20 tackles and two sacks. He graduated with a 3.94 GPA in health and physical education and math and was a two-time Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-American.

Roybal, a senior from Denver, had 247 kills to lead the Eagles in 2014. Roybal, who led the team in kills in three of her four seasons at Chadron State, wrapped up her career with exactly 800 kills.

Roybal was named to the RMAC All-Academic team in 2013 and 2014 and graduated with a 3.51 GPA in business.
