A ruptured natural gas line on the Nebraska-Wyoming border near Henry around 8:00 last night closed Highway 26 for about an hour and forced the temporary evacuation of all homes in the immediate area. There were no injuries.

Lieutenant Eric Sharp with the Torrington Police Department says the initial call reported an explosion just north of the Old State Line Bar, but that there was no explosion or fire…only a cloud of gas that kicked up a significant amount of dirt.

SourceGas, which operates the pipeline, says the rupture occurred just inside Wyoming, but Lt Sharp says the evacuation and containment area was in both states.
