Raymond D. Hennings, 88, died on Friday, March 28, 2015 at Heritage Estates in Gering, NE.

He was born on August 1, 1926 in Alliance to John G. and Florina M. (Mills) Hennings. Ray served in the U.S. Navy from February 1945 to July 1946 aboard the USS Stoddard.

On December 30, 1945 he married Lillie E. Reed.  Following his military service he returned to Hemingford where he farmed for 54 years. After his semi-retirement Ray and Lillie enjoyed their winters in Arizona.

He is survived by his wife, Lillie; his sons, John (Carol) Hennings of Scottsbluff, Gary (Lelo) Hennings of Windsor, CO and Kenneth (Barbara Sue) Hennings of Hemingford, his grandchildren, Todd, Eric, Tami and Michael, 12 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. He is also survived by his sister, Georgia Solterbeck of Guernsey, WY as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, one sister and 3 grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Thursday, April 2 at 1:30 p.m. at the Hemingford Congregational Church with Pastor Jim West officiating.  Burial with military honors will be in the Hemingford Cemetery. Memorials may be given to Prairie Haven Hospice in Scottsbluff or the Hemingford Congregational Church.
