Check out the 2017 Solar Eclipse App, “Piggyback”
The City of Alliance and the Village of Hemingford have teamed up to bring a different type of technology to our area for the August 21, 2017 Solar Eclipse! An app called “Piggyback” is available for Android and Apple users to have eclipse information on their mobile devices.
Becci Thomas, Knight Museum and Sandhills Center Curator; Melanie Johnston, Assistant Village Clerk in Hemingford; Kevin Howard, Alliance Visitors Bureau and Pete Brown, founder and CEO of ASH Interactive and owner of “Piggyback” took the lead in researching its usefulness during the eclipse and inputting the data to make the app a useful tool for visitors in Box Butte County. The app pulls data directly from the eclipse website www.CarhengeSolarEclipse2017.
The free Piggyback app is currently available by downloading it through Google Play or the Apple App Store. Once the Piggyback app is downloaded, simply search for 2017 Solar Eclipse-Carhenge and click the logo to view event information and maps. The 2017 Solar Eclipse will disappear from the app after the eclipse has occurred.
