LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) — Republican Pete Ricketts has won the endorsement of U.S. Rep. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin in his primary bid for Nebraska governor.
Ryan, a former vice presidential nominee, praised the Omaha businessman on Tuesday for his experience in balancing budgets. Ricketts is vying against five other candidates for the Republican Party nomination in the May 13 primary election.
Ricketts has also won support from former Nebraska Govs. Kay Orr and Charles Thone, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.
Ricketts is vying to replace Gov. Dave Heineman, who is leaving office in January due to term limits.
