PATSY CLINE: 50 YEARS SINCE CRASH

Patsy ClineUNDATED (AP) — For many country music fans, it was the real day the music died. It was on this date in 1963 — 50 years ago — that Patsy Cline was among those killed a plane crash in Tennessee. Killed along with Cline were the pilot of the Piper Comanche, Randy Hughes — who was also Cline’s manager. Also perishing were performers Cowboy Copas and Hawkshaw Hawkins.

Another country music milestone took place 30 years ago today. On this date in 1983, Country Music Television made its debut. The first video played on CMT was “It’s Four in the Morning,” performed by Faron Young.
