Omaha Fire Department, Salvation Army join to Fight Hunger

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — The Omaha Fire Department is coming to the aid of The Salvation Army’s food pantries.

The public may now drop off non-perishable food items at Omaha fire stations through Dec. 23. All participating stations will have a Holiday Donation Station sign posted.

The 2016 Holiday Donation Station Food Drive partnership will provide food for The Salvation Army’s food pantries to help those at risk for hunger during the holiday season.

Items most needed this year include boxed or bagged rice; canned meat, vegetables, beans, soup and fruit; boxed dinners, cake/muffin mixes and macaroni and cheese; and cereal.
