LINCOLN, Neb. (AP) _ Nebraska basketball coach Tim Miles has announced that Deverell Biggs will sit out this season as a redshirt. Miles said Monday the decision to redshirt Biggs came after a “pretty quick conversation” between player and coach.
Biggs is eligible to play in Wednesday’s exhibition against Midland University, and Miles said the junior guard might get some minutes. Biggs is a two-time all-state selection out of Omaha Central High School. The 6-foot guard earned first-team junior-college All-America honors last season at Seward County Community College in Kansas. Biggs was the first player signed by Miles after he became coach last spring. Biggs is the first in-state scholarship player to join the Cornhuskers since 2001.
