ROCK HALL INDUCTIONS ARE TONIGHT
UNDATED (AP) — Nearly every year at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductions, there’s talk of one band whose members could be at each other’s throats at the ceremony. This year it’s Kiss. Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley refuse to perform with Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, and Simmons and Stanley are upset the Rock Hall will only induct the original members. They will not perform at their induction. Meanwhile, Dave Grohl is hinting Joan Jett may perform with him and Krist Novoselic for Nirvana’s induction. The Foo Fighters tweeted a photo of Nirvana’s instruments along with what looks like Jett’s guitar. Linda Ronstadt will not attend her induction because she has Parkinson’s disease. Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates and Cat Stevens will also be inducted and are expected to attend. The ceremony is tonight in New York. It will be carried on HBO on May 31.
PAUL STANLEY OF KISS RIPS ROCK HALL
NEW YORK (AP) — Paul Stanley says it’s arrogant of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to keep all but the four original members of Kiss from being inducted into the Hall. He says he asked Hall officials to include all the members, but was told that was “a non-starter.” Stanley says that’s “arrogant” for people who — as he put it — “push pencils” while he plays the guitar. Stanley complains that the Rock Hall is run like a private little boys’ club, where the members decide who rates — and who doesn’t. And he says they haven’t applied the rules fairly for all groups. He says at the end of the day, “the tail doesn’t wag the dog” — and in this case, Kiss is the dog — and Rock Hall officials are — in his words — “a little tail.”
50 CENT ORDERED TO PAY HEADPHONE MANUFACTURER FOR FAILED DEAL
BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) — This is a story about 50 Cent-branded headphones. But not the ones that you see in stores these days, carrying the name and likeness of the rapper. And in part because of that, Fiddy has been ordered to pay a Florida company more than $16 million. The payment is tied to a dispute between the rap star and Sleek Audio. Court records claim the rapper — who was a partner in Sleek — swiped the designed of the over-the-ear headphones he asked the company to design and make. Since then Fiddy has been selling headphones of a similar design under his name with a different manufacturer. The award would have the rapper pay nearly $4.5 million in attorney fees and $11.7 million in damages.
PAST AND PRESENT CONTESTANTS FROM “THE VOICE” WILL TOUR
LOS ANGELES (AP) — Contestants from NBC’s “The Voice” will hit the road this summer, but who that will be is only half-determined. This season’s winner, runner-up and third-place finisher will make the tour. Viewers will be able to vote next month for a fourth “fan favorite” contestant to be included on the tour. Four singers are already confirmed, though. They are last season’s winner, Tessanne Chin, runner up Jacquie Lee, and third-place finisher Will Champlin. Dia Frampton from season one will also be on the tour.
”AMERICAN IDOL” SINGS THE ’80S
LOS ANGELES (AP) — The “American Idol” contestants tried putting their own stamps on songs of the ’80s last night, with mixed results. Jena Irene did a version of “I Love Rock ‘N’ Roll” that started off slow at the piano before kicking in. Jennifer Lopez and Harry Connick Junior were not fans of that. Keith Urban wanted Dexter Roberts to loosen up more on “Keep Your Hands To Yourself.” He gave the same advice to Malaya Watson on “Through the Fire.” Lopez told Jessica Meuse if she couldn’t tap into her sexy side for “Call Me,” then it wasn’t the song for her. After Sam Woolf sang “Time After Time,” Connick suggested he look up Ricky Nelson on YouTube for tips on how to work an audience, and he said Woolf should look more at the beautiful girls in front of him. Urban and Connick loved Alex Preston’s deconstructed version of “Every Breath You Take,” but Lopez thought it lost its soul. The judges thought CJ Harris was good but still needed work with “Free Fallin'” and they had mostly positive reviews for Caleb Johnson and “Faithfully.”
DAVID CROSBY LIVES ON LUCK
VIENNA, Va. (AP) — You’d think with all the health scares David Crosby has survived, he’d consider himself invincible. On the contrary: Crosby says he’s “about as invincible as a pillar of jello.” Crosby says he nearly died before having a liver transplant in 1994, then he had two small heart attacks before having surgery in February for a blocked artery. That’s in addition to diabetes and hepatitis. Crosby says he’s one of the luckiest people he’s ever met. He’s also embracing his weird side. Crosby says he used to try to write hits like Stephen Stills or Graham Nash had, but he realized he’s never had a hit and never will, so he’s less afraid of being weird with his music.
BILLBOARD MUSIC AWARDS
NEW YORK (AP) — They are two of the top new artists of the past 12 months. And both Lorde (LORD) and Imagine Dragons are among the leaders in nominations going into the Billboard Music Awards. Other songs nominated in the category include Robin Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” Katy Perry’s “Roar” and Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball.” The ceremony is May 18 and airs on ABC.
BIG SEAN AND FINANCE BREAK OFF ENGAGEMENT
LOS ANGELES (AP) — They aren’t calling it a “conscious uncoupling” or anything fancy like that. But rapper Big Sean and actress Naya Rivera are no longer engaged. A spokeswoman for Big Sean says the pair won’t be getting married. The rapper and the “Glee” star announced in October that they would marry. No official word on the reason for the split. But his publicist says it’s hoped the two can continue to work through their issues privately.

JANIS JOPLIN MUSICAL PUT ON HOLD
NEW YORK (AP) — Those who had plans to see the theatrical production featuring Janie Joplin’s music will have to make other plans. Producers have decided to postpone the opening of “A Night With Janis Joplin” — because of what they call “production issues.” The show did big business when it opened last October — but was to move to a smaller off-Broadway venue starting tonight. Those holding tickets will get refunds, if they want.

UNDATED (AP) — Billy Corgan will release a set of experimental recordings that he acknowledges are not for everyone. Corgan will release “AEGEA” in the next six to eight weeks. He recorded it in 2007 and describes it as “more a soundtrack to some lost foreign film than the kind of music I’m usually associated with.” He says the music is “meditative and alien, but not alienating.” Corgan will press 250 vinyl copies of the two-record set. He will hand number and annotate each one himself. They will sell for about $60 each at www.SmashingPumpkins.com .
