MONTANA STATE – BILLINGS DOWNS CSC WOMEN, 79-64

CHADRON – Montana State University-Billings guard Bobbi Knudsen scored 30 points and handed out six assists and four others scored in double-digits as the Yellowjackets earned a 79-64 win over Chadron State in the Eagles’ home opener Sunday afternoon at Armstrong Gymnasium.

Knudsen hit 12 of 15 field goals and also added four steals and three rebounds to lead a balanced Billings offense. Kayleen Goggins scored 13, Janiel Olson had 12 points and 10 rebounds and Quinn Peoples and Brooke Tolman each scored 10 in the Yellowjackets’ first win of the season.

Kattie Ranta led Chadron State with a career-high 22 points and eight rebounds.  The junior guard from Rapid City, S.D., made nine of 14 field goals and all three of her attempts from the foul line.

Also for Chadron State, Dallas Shaw scored 17 points and had eight rebounds, Hattie Guzman scored 11 points and Jazmin Lopez added eight points, eight boards and seven assists.

The Eagles actually shot better than the Yellowjackets (47 percent to 41 percent) but MSU-Billings went to the charity stripe 22 times, making 19 of them. Chadron State, on the other hand, made four of six free throws.
