Mary Ann Curtiss, 86, died Friday, March 27, 2015 at Highland Park Care Center.
She was born August 24, 1928 in Howells, Nebraska to Joseph and Mary (Strudl) Kotrba.
Mary Ann graduated from Creighton Nursing School in 1949. Prior to her marriage, she worked as an operating room nurse at St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha. She was a volunteer with the Box Butte General Hospital Auxiliary and served on the initial BBGH Board of Trustees. She played bridge and golf assisting with the Ladies Golf Association activities and records for many years.
She is survived by her daughters, Deborah (Ed) Hubbs and Pamela Curtiss-Smith of Omaha, sons Terry (Karen) Curtiss and David (Lori) Curtiss of Alliance, 11 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Ludmila (Victor) Stamos of Minneapolis, her brother Stan (Joan) Kotrba of Wichita, and her sister-in-law, Phyllis Knoflicek of Alliance.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, H. Alan Curtiss, brothers Joseph Kotrba and Vaclac Kotrba, and her sister Rita Kotrba.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, April 1 at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Father John Kakkuzhiyil will officiate. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery. Wake services will be held Wednesday, March 31 at 7:00 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Box Butte General Hospital or Holy Rosary Catholic Church.
