MARJORIE PAPPAS SHASSETZ, 93, SCOTTSBLUFF

Marjorie Pappas Shassetz, 93, of Scottsbluff, Nebraska, passed away and has gone on to meet her Lord and Savior on Tuesday May 9th, 2013, after a stroke.

Her funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., at The Rock Church in Scottsbluff with Pastors Phillip Palser, Barry Palser and Tyson Lambertson officiating.  Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.  Visitation will be an hour prior of service at the church. Marj was born in Butte, Montana on December 27th, 1919 to George and Rose (Tierre) Pappas. She graduated from high school in Hanna, Wyoming and continued on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree and taught as a Cosmetology Instructor with the University of California, working with the likes of Vidal Sassoon.

Marj was married to Archie Henry Shassetz, and ultimately adopted an Alaskan Native, David Lee Shassetz, her lifelong devoted son. Marj worked as a cosmetologist and beautician for her whole life until she retired. She enjoyed touring America and was always sewing, knitting and crocheting blankets, coats and other wonderful gifts for her family and friends. He was also actively involved in whatever church she happened to be near.

Marjorie is survived by her son, David L. Shassetz of Austin, Texas (USN Veteran); granddaughter Kimberley A. Hancock of San Diego, California; grandson David J. Shassetz of Rocklin, California (USAF Veteran); granddaughter Samantha R. Shassetz of Glendale, Arizona; and her step-granddaughter Brandi M. Lunsford of Prescott Valley, Arizona and step-granddaughter Erica C. Lunsford of Glendale, Arizona; Great-granddaughter Lilly A. Hancock and step-great-granddaughter Haleigh Lunsford; and sisters Helen A. Palser of Scottsbluff, Nebraska and Victorine Palser of Eau Claire, Wisconsin; numerous nieces and nephews, and host of other family and thousands of friends.

Marjorie is preceded in death by her loving husband Archie Shassetz; brother George Pappas; brother-in-law Everett Palser and her parents.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be sent to the family. The family of Marjorie Shassetz wishes to thank Dugan-Kramer and The staff and family of The Rock for their kindness and assistance during this difficult time for those of us who will miss Marj, but rejoice in her newfound freedom to fly high with golden tipped, silver wings of glory…and yes accented with her own special celestial bling.
