Lonnie Grant, PA-C (center), has been named Box Butte General Hospital (BBGH) Provider of Choice for the 2nd Quarter of 2018. This is the second time Mr. Grant has earned the honor. Presenting the award was CEO Lori Mazanec (at right), with Mr. Grant’s nurse, Hilary Gomez, LPN proudly standing next to him at left. Mr. Grant practices at Alliance Family Medicine, joining that clinic in 2012. He was nominated for the Provider of Choice award by a grateful patient family member and a member of the staff: “My elderly mother suffered a heart attack and was admitted to BBGH on Mother’s Day for comfort care. Lonnie cared for my mom, and the entire family, as if it was his family. Mom was 99 and nearly deaf, yet Lonnie took care to speak directly to her; sometimes inches from her ear. And, he showed her respect and dignity that is impossible to describe here. She passed a few days later. Lonnie was caring and compassionate throughout her last three days – just as he was during better times when mom would visit him in the clinic. He always treated her like the most important person and she responded to his style and communication… Lonnie cares for his patients. He is thoughtful of their needs and concerns and is more than willing to explain things over and over until you understand. He always puts his patients first. He is the same if you see him on the streets or in his office.” Mr. Grant and his wife Janell, APRN-BC, have six grown children. The couple reside in Alliance, with Janell practicing at Alliance Children’s & Allied Health. Box Butte General Hospital is an equal opportunity provider and employer.
