LINCOLN HIGHWAY CARAVAN VISITS THE PANHANDLE

Lincoln Highway - 22013 marks the 100th anniversary of the opening of the America’s first coast-to-coast highway, the Lincoln Highway…now U-S Highway 30…and part of the celebration reached the Panhandle on Tuesday.

25 vehicles from the Early Ford V8 Club of America are taking the Lincoln Highway from the east coast to the club’s Golden Anniversary Jubilee and Grand National in Lake Tahoe and spent Tuesday night in Kimball.

The touring cars…Fords, Lincolns, and Mercurys made from 1932 to 1953…joined with local vintage cars that evening for a Mini-Show and Shine at the Kimball Event Center, where Mayor James Schnell issued a proclamation declaring the day as Lincoln Highway Day in Kimball.

The evening included music by, fittingly, the Stahla-Ford Band, a burger feed, and beer garden before the Early Ford members called it a night at the Days Inn Motel…where their cars remained unofficially on display.

The club’s Golden Anniversary Jubilee at Lake Tahoe runs next Monday through Friday with some 500 cars expected.
