LIFE ON THE OREGON TRAIL FEATURED SAT AT SBNM

SBNM - 3This week’s  Saturday afternoon program at Scotts Bluff National Monument will offer a glimpse back at what life was like on the Oregon Trail and other emigrant trails of the 1850’s.

Ranger Mary Harris-Eshe from the Fort Laramie National Historic Site will be dressed in period clothing as she takes the audience back to the days when people emigrated 2,000 miles on foot to find a better land.

Harris-Eshe, a retired teacher, has a unique background for a ranger with an undergraduate minor in history and a series of degrees in music…including a doctorate…and will add music to the comments of travelers taken from their dairies, journals, and letters.

The program is Saturday at 3:00 in the Scotts Bluff National Monument Visitors Center. The program is free, but the park’s $5 entry fee does apply.
