Legion Baseball: Twin Cities’ Huge Inning Sends Chadron SRs to First Loss; Gering Shuts Out Sidney SRs

Twin Cities used a nine-run third inning to hand the Chadron Nationals its first loss in American Legion Baseball Sr’s play this summer.  After taking a 1-0 lead in the first on an RBI single from Jayden Stack that brought in Jackson Dickerson the game was close until the third – a strange inning where 13 Zephyrs came to the plate but only three reached on base hits. Four walks, a few fielder’s choice plays, a wild ground ball hop at short, wild pitches, passed balls and an error kept the inning moving along as Twin Cities came away with the 13-2 win.

In other action Wednesday:

– The Twin Cities Express (Scottsbluff JRs) beat Chadron 4-3.

– The Gering Seniors shutout Sidney 6-0 behind a complete game from Brent Barge who allowed seven hits, walked a pair and struck out five.  Esai Hernandez was 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBIs and three walks.

– The Sidney Juniors beat Gering 10-2 after gradually pulling away at Legion Field.  Sidney scored two runs in the third, three runs in the fourth and four runs in the fifth inning to seal the victory.  Mitch Rolls led the Sidney hitting attack with a 3-for-4 night and was one of five Sidney batters that drive in a run.  Conner Langrell pitched a complete game for the win, allowing four hits and striking out three.
