Chadron State picks up the practice schedule Friday morning with another session in helmets. It’s all about reps, reps and more reps over the first few days as players find out if they conditioned properly over the summer. On reporting day Wednesday Defensive Coordinator Jeff Larson thought his defense looked like they had put in the effort.
Thursday was the first day on the field for drills and Larson says his goals in the early days of camp will be focused on the base foundation of his defense and making sure players understand the terminology behind schemes.
The RMAC has a bevy of explosive offenses and talented quarterbacks that can move the ball quickly and rack up yards. Once Larson and the defense set the foundation the focus turns to preparation for the tempo and pace Chadron State will see in conference games this year.
