
The Chadron State College women’s basketball team will enter the home stretch this weekend with visits by two Denver teams—Metro State on Friday night and Regis on Saturday night. Both games will tip-off at 6 p.m.
The Metro women are 12-6 for the season and 10-3 in the conference. Their conference losses have been to Regis (65-62), Colorado Mines (57-56) and unbeaten Colorado Mesa (73-67).
Three Roadrunners are scoring in double figures, paced by 5-foot-11 junior Amy Nelson at 12.1 per game. Senior guard Kristin Valencia is averaging 10.2 points and 8.3 rebounds.
Nelson scored 20 points when Metro beat the CSC women 68-38 in December.
The Regis women are 7-10 overall and 6-7 in the RMAC. They downed the Eagles 73-49 during the game in Denver on Dec. 15, when the Rangers’ top gun, 6-1 senior Sarah Feeney, scored 21 points. She’s averaging 14.3 points and 6.3 rebounds. Tae’lor Purdy, a 5-10 junior, is next on the scoring list at 13.5 points a game.
The CSC women are 3-14 for the season and 3-10 in the conference and are still battling for a berth in the RMAC playoffs.
Kattie Ranta is fourth on the conference scoring chart at 15.2 points and fifth in rebounding at 8.2 a game. She also is 15th in field goal accuracy at 45.3 percent and 12th in free throw shooting at 78.5 percent.
