The Lady Cardinals made the trip to Sidney, and came back district champions after defeating Gothenburg 76-49 on Friday night.
Chadron played good defense and forced Gothenburg into turnovers, and led 23-12 at the end of the first quarter. By the break Chadron’s lead was 16 points 39-23, by the end of third the Cardinals lead grew to 21 points 58-37, while the final score was a 76-49 Cardinal victory.
Peyton Hinn led Chadron in scoring with 24 points, while Briley Hannaford and Bailea Kerr each finished the night with 12 points. The Lady Swedes were led by Brittyn Munster with 12 points; Jacey Wiggins scored 11, while Taylor Wolf finished with 10.
With the win, Chadron advances to the state tournament and secures the #1 seed. The Lady Cardinals will play Lincoln Christian on February 28th at 7 P.M. at the Pershing Auditorium in Lincoln. This is a rematch of last year’s first round game, which Chadron won 51-49 in overtime.
