Kruger Headlines Eagles Earning RMAC All-Conference Softball Recognition

Four Chadron State College softball student-athletes were named to the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference All-Conference team Wednesday, highlighted by Katelyn Kruger making the second team.

The 13 RMAC head softball coaches select the all-conference teams and awards. Coaches cannot vote for themselves or their own players.

Kruger led the Eagles with a .374 batting average, 13 home runs, 41 RBIs, a slugging percentage of .783 and a fielding percentage of .993. Kruger finished in the top-10 in the conference in six statistical categories. She led the conference in slugging percentage, finished tied for second in home runs, third in fielding percentage, tied for fifth with the fewest errors, seventh in on base percentage and ninth in walks.

Three other Eagles earned honorable mentions. They are Tayler Hall, Aspen Eubanks and Casey Polk.

Hall led the conference in total batters struck out with 161 and struck out looking with 49. She was also seventh in opponent batting average and tied for eighth with total wins.

Eubanks, a true freshman for the Eagles, emerged as one of the team’s best hitters. She finished third on the team with a .339 batting average, leading the team in doubles with 10.

Polk, a senior designated player, closed out her career as an Eagle hitting a career-best .314. She tied for second on the team with 31 RBIs and was second with 44 total hits. Polk finished her career as the CSC career fielding percentage leader, committing only two errors in her four years.

Colorado Mesa shortstop Makayla Kovac and CSU-Pueblo second baseman Alexa Snyder were named the RMAC Co-Players of the Year. MSU-Denver freshman pitcher Kenzie Mattey was named the RMAC Pitcher of the Year as well as the RMAC Freshman of the Year. MSU-Denver’s head coach Annie Van Wetzinga was named the RMAC Softball Coach of the Year.
